Part retail store, part coffee shop, Sightsee aims to inspire a sense of adventure in everyday life. We view our space as an experience – where a cup of coffee makes new people feel welcome, where a simple city map can lead to meaningful conversations, and where each product and person has a story.
We are searching for an engaging, kind, and responsible part-time team member who is passionate about creating this experience with us. Previous barista or coffee shop experience is strongly preferred.
On a day-to-day basis, this role entails tasks as a Barista and Shopkeeper at our storefront. You will greet customers, answer their questions, take orders and accept payments, and prepare and serve drinks. You will also maintain a clean and well-stocked workspace, restock retail displays, and continuously provide customers with excellent service. In other words, you should be organized, friendly, and generally just great at interacting with people and thinking on your feet (literally).
- You are a positive person. Life doesn’t have to be all puppies and rainbows (although we’re definitely into that), but you should come to work with a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to be kind to people even if you’re feeling a bit tired or hangry. That said, you’re also not afraid to set boundaries if someone is being disrespectful.
- You are serious about your work, but you don’t take yourself too seriously. We might make the occasional dad/mom-joke or drop an F-bomb, and we’d like our next team member to be able to roll with that lighthearted realness.
- You care about the craft of coffee, but you’re not pretentious about it. If someone doesn’t know what a cortado is, you don’t scoff - you answer their questions with kindness and enthusiasm.
- You are excited about small, independent retail and creating an engaging shopping experience for customers. You are willing to learn about the brands we carry and the story behind each item.
- You are savvy enough to teach us a thing or two, yet humble and curious enough to learn and receive feedback. We are always learning – from our customers, from our mistakes, from each other – and we want our crew to take that same inquisitive and collaborative approach.

Responsibilities:
- Work behind the bar at Sightsee, which includes barista and retail shop responsibilities.
- Prepare high-quality specialty coffee beverages, tea, etc. and educate customers of different drinks, brew methods, etc.
- Provide a welcoming environment for customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments.
- Sell retail items and educate customers about the brands we carry.
- Clean and restock work areas, emptying trash, and sanitizing equipment.
- Restock retail items as needed.
- Opening/closing set-up and clean-up duties.
Job Requirements:
- Previous coffee / barista experience is strongly preferred.
- Customer service experience is a must, retail experience preferred.
- Training and willingness to continue learning about coffee, equipment, and beverage preparation.
- Exceptional communication skills and a commitment to providing great customer service.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and ability to carry ~40lbs (you’ll occasionally need to lift 5-gallon cold brew kegs, cases of oat milk, etc.)
- Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and around (not on) holidays.
This role is part-time, 15-20 hours per week depending on availability. Hourly pay plus tips. Must be available from 7:30am - 4:00pm with a combination of weekday and weekend shifts.
